Ivy Writer Media - grown up creativity

welcome to grown up creativity
"a place for writers to find themselves"

my creative insight
When I reached my mid-30's, I realized that I had reached a point in life where I needed to "find my purpose".  My professional background is in higher education and I love working with college students, helping them grow and watching them become successful. However, I have always had a knack for writing, both creatively as a poet and as a journalist, and a desire to start a business.  In fall 2008, in the middle of one of the worst recessions on record and in between jobs, I started a freelance writing business called Ivy Writer Media (www.ivywritermedia.com), and although I didn't gain a lot of wealth from it, but the experience was very invigorating. I also started a blog called lifestyle30 magazine, www.lifestyle30.org .   I taught at a community college and took on freelance projects through Ivy Writer Media for a few months, and when a new position in higher education came along,  I had to put Ivy Writer Media on the backburner.

So, now that the dust has settled a little on the hectic-ness of my new job, I have felt compelled to pick up where I left off and forge ahead with my goals as a writer.  I created this site, "grown up creativity" to not only help myself stay focused on my writing goals but to also help others do the same thing. I hope you are inspired.

project30 literary journal
(coming soon!)

As a person in her mid-30's who feels like this is my last chance to write and make a real life career as a writer, project30 is a journal is a dream come true and I hope you will join me on my journey.

I created project30, a literary journal just for us, creative individuals in their 30's who  have the ability to offer a unique perspective on life, based on  our own personal life experiences.

why project30?
project30 is especially for those people who may have begun their professional careers right after high school or college, started a family, or even may have abandoned your writing goals based on the fact that you were scared to step out on faith to pursue writing and took the safe route of a 9 to 5 job.  Either way, project30 journal brings us full circle and opens the door to pursue our true passion and purpose as writers. It will be a place where the 30 and over poet, photographer, and essayist, or blogger will have a voice and an opportunity to realize a long awaited goal of  what I like to call "grown up creativity".

A CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
In celebration of writing, it's official, a call for submissions to the project30 journal  Inaugural issue has begun! The theme for this first issue will be "Bootcamp: Becoming A Writer, Later". This theme can take on many meanings, so I trust there will be some interesting submissions.

The guidelines for submissions to project30 journal are:
  • Submissions are being accepted from  poets, photographers, and bloggers who are 30 and over.
  • All submissions will be accepted electronically at project30@lifestyle30.org
  • project30 is only accepting  10 poems, 10 photos, and 10 essays per (hard copy) issue. Other submissions may selected to be posted on the website, in the "extras" section.
  • Each submission must adhere to the theme of the issue.
  • Each submission must also be accompanied by an email address, website/blog, and a short, brief bio of the person submitting and your experience as a creative person and what has brought you to this point in life as a writer. (All bios are subject to editing to fit journal space.)
  • There is NO PRIZE or MONEY involved, only recognition and acknowledgment as a writer or photographer pursuing his/her craft and support from a community of other like-minded writers and artists.
  • Persons chosen to have their work published, will have their profile featured in the project30 journal, both hard copy, which will be available for purchase on magcloud.com, and on the project30 website (coming soon).
  • If you submit a poem, photo, or essay and your submission is not chosen for the current issue, your submission may be put on file for a future issue or shredded/recycled (you will be consulted prior to use).
  • The project30 reading period will be July 1, 2010 to December 15, 2010
  • Persons who submit material, will be notified by December 15, 2010 about the status of your submission.
  • project30 journal 2011 issue will be published on January 15, 2011 and a hard copy may be purchased by family and friends at www.magcloud.com (coming soon!)
