Meet The Chief Creative Officer:

Kellea Tibbs
Freelance Media Manager  & Citizen Journalist

My background and experience is in Education and I work full-time as the Coordinator for Student Leadership & Development at Central State University.

Ivy Writer Media came as a direct result of my passion for writing that I have had since junior high school. I also have experience as a poet and editor, and my work as a freelance media manager, educator,  consultant, and special events coordinator has been a natural progression for me, over time.

My newest passion is Media Literacy and how to utilize the internet as a tool for not only research, but also for making the right connections in my creative endeavors, as well as for business and civic engagement.  As a higher education professional, I am convinced that all students, especially our future leaders, will need to be media literate and media savvy as we move further into the 21st Century.

We have seen a direct result of this New Media phenomenon in America during the campaign and election of President Barack Obama, when, for the first time, a candidate connected with young people by the means of You Tube and social media in ways never imagined;  in Iran as we saw a country on the brink of an electoral disaster, the agony and grief these instant citizen journalists unfolded live via the Facebook and Twitter; and in the form of an electronic explosion of music, commentary, and rememberance on sites like Amazon, boosting sales of the already record breaking sales of his most popular album Thriller, profile photos on social networks changing at rapid lightning speed, all in response to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, as his family and the world paid homage to him, in light of his untimely death.

I believe that part of my job as an administrator, an educator, as an entrepreneur, and as a writer is to assist in the preparation of  young people for living and learning in a globally competitive culture that is increasingly connected through multi-media and influenced by powerful images, words and sounds.   I also believe that our students will need to acquire the business savvy skills to be able to become entrepreneurs and learning as much about the media as they can will be helpful in their development as future leaders.
